Chapter I - The Crimson Empire

At the time it was a year before NAO was formed, and I had been deeply rooted within Jedi Knight 2, the sequel to an acclaimed game. I had been going under the name @p0calypt!c, and my travels had brought me upon many a server, destroying all the virtual enemies within my reach. I was one day that I happened to stumble upon a strange server bearing the name of the website, Digigames.biz. It was here that I established a ground base for my regular Capture-the-Flag gaming sessions, but I had noticed the presence of a vibrant clan going by the name of Crimson Empire. There were several members there, two who returned to the server the most often. There was the good natured one and the bad natured one. I had coexisted with this clan for ages, during the peaceful times before the server became a battleground. Eventually, my relations with this clan grew to the point where I was offered a place in their clan. It was at this point that I was returning to Digigames as a member of this clan. At this point, I was a mere lackey within the clan, but I slowly made my way up the ranks past the point where all the mainstream members where inferiors. During this time, I of course conquered the server with my popularity and reputation as a respectible person.

The Crimson Empire was lead by several badly natured members, who could or could not have been the cause of several rogue members creating an anti-Clan. They were known as the xCE, and their first appearance brought many a test of loyalty to my clan and pride as an individual soldier within a (then honourable) society who fought with courage. However, this was the start of the decaying of the CE and the corruption of the DigiGames server. The Clan War had begun. Their presence became a regular asset to the transformation of a peaceful server into a deserted wasteland. Everytime they came, they wreaked havoc, insulting and laming and frustrating everyone to the point of extreme stupidity. The line had to be drawn, and they had to stop their madness. It was quite unfortunate; however, that my superiors (I kind of cringe when I write that) had instructed us not to acknowledge them as a problem. They didn't know anything, so I, along with several others, dedicated ourselves to the protection of the server against the worst of these anti-CE soldiers. Countless times the feeling of stalemate crept up on our clan, and it looked as if there was nothing we could do to avoid this terror machine. Eventually, the sheer stupidity of my former respectible superiors convinced me that I was not for this clan any longer. I had cut myself off and left, moving on. I continued to fight the xCE on the DigiGames server, and the combined powers of me and several other ex-CE members had banded together to continue the fight. The largest decay of the original CE had yet to come. But it did in due time. The members were ORDERED to leave the server and focus their sessions within another server hosting service. The xCE felt their victory, but the High Jedi Council of the CE insisted that this was not a retreat and merely a solution to their problem. The war was over, at least, my part in it was. xCE's presence within my still favourite server started to dwindle, prefering to continue the battle within the new server hosting service rather than face me. Unfortunately, my other ex-CE allies had begun to stop playing Jedi Knight 2, and I had no power to try and stop xCE. Finally, after many days of battle, their presence and my part of the war was over. This also started a great recession in the DigiGames server's popularity. It's limit was 10 players, and it was always full when CE was frequently visiting, but without them and other allies, the server became a sub 6 player roster everytime I entered. A sad tale in my history was finished. And it didn't have a happy ending.

At this point in time, 2 years later, there is no trace left of either the Crimson Empire or the xCE that I can find. I don't know what this means, but I will always remember this terrible event. It also happens to be immortalized within this website.

Chapter II - The Exile's Travels

The name of @p0calypt!c lived on, despite the loss of a wonderful server. I had travelled to many different places, discovering the terrific mods that Jedi Knight 2 had within its fanbase. There were several other clans that seemed incredibly interesting, but where I namely kept myself was within a Free-For-All server which hosted the Duel of the Fates Map. My computer at the time was relatively weak, so I had some trouble running it, but I had thrived there, playing along with the usual 15+ players "RPGs" and lamer hunts. It was also the place where I, along with two others, started another clan, called the (BITH). This was a very small clan, which hadn't kept me within its ranks for long. The other leaders where seldom within the server, and there were no new recruits. The other two eventually scattered, and I continued my regular sessions on this server. I usually contested with other players, trying to get the highest scores or infiltrating an "RPG" so that I could destroy whoever had their guard down. This continued for many a week. Then I had my first run in with a cheater, who called himself the Immortal Hunter. A lamer warning had been placed on him, and everyone who confronted him was instructed to defend themselves. You see, he was invincible, and I took it upon myself to somehow defeat him. I used a cunning method of doing this. I made it so that he would fall off the ledge of the power generators of the map, and fall to his destruction. There was no way he could cheat to avoid that kind of death. I had gained a reputation through that, but not much. People continued to hunt him down, and eventually he left. But I was so frustrated with him and his methods of winning that I dedicated myself to the hunting of lamers. For those who don't know what a lamer is, it is a player who breaks rules and destroys people who are defensless, so for example, people who are at themoment configuring options or talking. I had many other adventures on this server, but none worth mentioning at this point in time. Thus concludes another pre-NAO chapter...

Chapter III - Birth of An Organization

So it was that I, Gamer, was finished for the time being with the alias of @p0calypt!c, and was highly anticipating the release of Jedi Academy. I had started the school year and had met who was to become Trekie. I didn't know him, and it took awhile before we became friends and realized we were nerds. So it was that we formed an organization, and the Computer Gods worshipped me, and not vice-versa. The regular Gods of course still were awesome. Anyways, from that incident came N**** A*****, O*. Otherwise known as NAO. Two seconds later, we needed a lackey to order around, and so came the person who would become SWNerd. The first Generation was complete, but more was yet to come. Throughout the year, NAO was kept in secrecy, or for the most part it was anyway. No members were accepted that year. Then came the finish line of the school year, and so it was that summer brought myself into a new game - Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Those adventures will be covered in the next chapter. When the new school year started, there were still plenty of nerds to be accepted into NAO. One who stood out the most was the one who was later to become Bookworm. He stood out because of his complete knowledge of the thousands of books he had read. Thus it was that one of the most powerful members of NAO was incorporated. Now there were 4, the one of Star Trek/Matrix, the one of Games, the one of Star Wars, and the one of literature. The most obvious nerds were incorporated and Generation 2 was complete, but there were still many not-known nerds left to be incorporated To be continued...

Chapter IV - @p0calypt!c's Return

NAO represented the strongest alliance of nerds known to humanity at that time. Things were prosperous, and it was time that I continued my adventures in Virtuearth. The next game that I moved on to was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead. It was here that I had met one of the greatest allies and potential enemy (for when we were on opposite teams). This was the brother of the one who was to become Bort. At the time he was called Killbot 2003, but he also continued on to the name of Born2Frag at a later point. Now he shall be refered to as Killbot 2003. Anyways, my adventures in Medal of Honor took me to new and interesting locales where interesting mods raided the source code and entertained many. These mods ranged from automatic M1 Garands, to vehicles. Once again, the name of @p0calypt!c crushed most within the way, and united with Killbot2k3, the duo was unstoppable. Together, enemy players dropped like flies as semi-automatic hot lead pierced their helmets and epidermus, thus removing them from the game for a short period of time before being re-incarnated fully prepped for battle. At this time, there was no central hub of my Medal of Honor sessions until I arrived upon a server like no other, which ran my then favourite map - Omaha Beach. Here was where I had my greatest victories, either rushing up the beaches or mowing down any who dared do just that. As I would infiltrate the bunkers, I would grenade corners, aim my Thompson with precision, pistol whip unsuspecting fools, and finally sneak my way up into the highest levels of the beach where I would reach the goal of the destruction of two artillery cannons. My adventures contiued with prosperity on this particular server, until it switched to rifles only and then finally Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Breakthrough. Throughout this time, I had allied with a mighty force (Killbot 2003), drove my enemies to destruction, and built another considerable reputation in another game. The Adventures of Killbot 2k3 and @p0calypt!c would continue, but quickly my admiration for Medal of Honor dissipated as new games arrived on the scene. I had my last adventures trudging through European cities and exploring different servers, but these were last-ditch efforts to try to like an obsolete game.

Chapter V -  NAO, Generation 3

The time had finally arrived for NAO to once again expand. The coming generation would behold new and somewhat lame members in NAO, thus earning it the "mediocre generation" award. This one beheld the arrivals of two good nerds, Dungeon Master and Bort. At first, Dungeon Master was somewhat hard to accept into NAO, but eventually with worse members arriving it was hard to blame him or her. Bort's inclusion came during a trip to a foreign city in which Gamer had to battle many an enemy such as the Virtual Parasite, or the Immortal Destroyer in battle royals with cameoes from Spider-Man and Superman, the best superheroes. Bort was found in the sewers with his Dungeons & Dragons books, and once Gamer found him, he was quickly included to escape the clutches of Poverty-Man. You see, Bort was once within the city where most of NAO dwelt, but he had to leave on a mission - a mission to defeat the anti-NAO clans, little did he know that he would fall into the sewers and be forgotten for many a year.

Next came the most unbearable inclusions in NAO. The only one of these that actually made it in was X-Man who has continued to be shunned by such superstars as Gamer, Bookworm, and SWNerd. Then there were two other "inclusions" one being a person who was a MechWarrior/Lord of the Rings Nerd, but he is still being questioned due to the unnerdliness of himself and the fact that there are already two Lord of the Rings Nerds (Bookworm and Trekie). The other person had no subject of nerdliness, plus this person had no nerdly qualities. This concludes Generation 3, as the school year is now over.

Chapter VI - The Search for the Crimson Empire

The final chapter of this volume of history entales the search for the Crimson Empire, Gamer's first and only real clan that he was a part of. After I had moved on past Jedi Knight 2, for a whole year, there were no wereabouts left for CE. I had no clue what happened to them. Therefore, with all the freetime I had, I gathered up resources and embarked on the quest to find them. At this current point in time, I still have not made any contact with them, but I have found the remains of their old website. Anyways, my search started in Jedi Academy, as I, under the name of @p0calypt!c, searched through servers for scraps of information pertaining to the Crimson Empire. The problem was that I had no clue whether or not they switched from Jedi Knight 2 to Jedi Academy or not. Nonetheless, I continued my search through the servers, learning only that no one had ever heard of them. This told me one thing: that they had indeed not switched to Jedi Academy. And so it was that I turned my search to Jedi Knight 2, and I entered a domain in which I had no more allies left to turn to. So as a first step I put the CE tag onto my name, thus turning me into CE_@p0calypt!c. This was done to see if any former CE member would recognize the name or tag and tell me anything. I did this to no success, so I continued searching. Again I found no traces except doubts of their existence. The search for the most part was over. There was no CE-prescence left in Jedi Knight 2, so I turned to the Clan Yellow Pages on the Jedi Academy/Outcast mod site: jk3files.com. At last I found a link to their site, but what I found was an empty horror of the once brilliant website. HTML code leaks were everywhere and nothing worked. It was like the Enterprise after its encounter with the Scimitar. No forums or sub-sites worked. The only thing I could do now was wait. Indeed I did wait, and I kept visiting the website every now and then, to no avail, until one day where I didn't arrive at the website but instead at a blank white page telling me that the website host was being changed. AT LAST! They were found, someone had to be doing this, and that is the strongest proof that I have found to this date that they still exist and thrive somewhere. And so now the only objective left is to make contact....

End

This concludes the relatively brief history of pre-NAO Gamer and during NAO Gamer. This volume covered my history through the years of Septemer 2002-July 2004. The next volume will not arrive for a long time, so until then...Happy Gaming!
