As many of you may know Throne of Bhaal is an expansion pack to the original game, Shadows of Amn. In this game you continue to attempt to complete your destiny as a Child of Bhaal which you began in the first and second. You start out in a forest area where you first learn about a prophecy regarding you, main child of Bhaal, and then you must go one-on-one with another Bhaalspawn. In my opinion this fight is more to test out the awesome new items you have and familiarize yourself with the gameplay, rather than have a real signifigance. You are then teleported to a useful cocoon plane where you meet up with Sarevok and have the option for him to be in your party. This plane is very useful for having a free space to sleep without the worry of monsters waking you up, it also has a plot signifigance and lots of interesting challenges as well as the best imp of all time, Cespenar.
Anyway, I'm rambling, basically I think that this game is excellent although it lacks the massive expansiveness of its predecessors. Also the action becomes slow as it builds up to the climax, mostly in Balthazar's city when it takes you 10 minutes to walk up to a house and another 10 minutes to go down which you must do a minimum of 2 times (Lich killing quest). However this tremendous finale to the Baldur's Gate series makes for an exciting climax- where you finally reach your destiny.
In conclusion, although slightly linear, it is certainly an excellent game, ranked up their with the first and second of the series(definitely not as good as the second alone).
