An excellent film starring Bill Murray, Groundhog Day is lots of fun for all ages. A time travel based movie reminiscent
of the Typhon Expanse episode of Star Trek TNG, Goundhog Day is funny, interesting, and brings across a good message.
The premise of the film is very simple. An egotistical weather reporter (Murray) is reporting the story of the Groundhog
seeing its shadow on Groundhog day. His day goes badly, and he is plesed when it is over. But is it? The next morning he
wakes up to hear a familiar song playing on his clock radio. The same events start to happen. He begins to realize that
he is stuck in the same day. He reacts interestingly enough, by just having fun with it. Eventually he becomes sick of his
curse, but the only way he can see to end it is to destroy the constant, himself.
An appealing theme is brought about, and one has to wonder, what would we do in the same position. There are several
stages that he goes through, trying to accomplish different things, and you end up with a generally fun movie.
Grounhog Day appeals to all audiences. To younger ones with it's humour, to the romantics with it's love scenes, to the
action lovers with some good car chases, to the thinkers with it's interesting base, and to just about everyone with it's
carpe diem message. A film well worth watching.
