Please note: Though based throughly and truthfully on the true event, this story is being recorded sometime after its
occurence. Accordingly, the timeing of the baskets may be somewhat incorrect, and the diologue is not in the form of exact
quotations. Well that's the legal stuff out of it, enjoy!-Trekie
Before I embark on this marvellous tale,
their are several things you must know, or nothing I say may seem wonderful or fantastic. The first fact is both Dungeon Master,
and X-member play basketball, they play on rep teams, school teams, you name it. They are both farely good, and have a solid
degree of confidence in themselves. The second fact is that though Trekie is an active person, his principal source of exercise
is Karate, and basketball is definately not one of his strong suits. The thrid and final fact is that the DM's sister is fit,
skillful, and about 4'10". Not exactly the ideal height for an NBA star. Remember these three facts as you are told the true
story of unexpected triumph.
It started one day, DM, X-member, and Trekie were playing some twenty-one at
The DM's house. Trekie, the underdog, was doing surprisingly well, having the lead for some time, and finally placeing second.
This was all well and good. Then the DM's sister came out and wanted to play. DM and X-member seemed against the idea, but
Trekie agreed straight away. Then X-member came up with the argment that twenty-one was highly inferior with four. "Yeah"
said Trekie "I guess we'll have to play some two on two." X-member was thuroughly against the idea, and as if to dispell it
said half-jokingly "Alright, DM and I." He expected complaints, laughter, even sarcasm, but not what he got. "You're on."
said Trekie completely serious. He then drove up the stakes. "we're playing possesion." Now the game would be much more interesting.
The game was on. What with it being possession, X-member and the DM expected neither Trekie nor DM's sister to even touch
the ball. How wrong they were.
"Go ahead," said Trekie "you guys can take it first." At DM took it back to the end
of the court (They were playing half-court naturally) The starting game plan, was Trekie covering X-member, while his sister
took the DM on. And so started the game. The DM tried to deek out his sister, but due to a van in the driveway, he had little
room. He therefore decided to pass. X-member was doing his best to get open, but Trekie is about five inches taller than X-member,
and close to three feet wider. Needless to say, he was difficult to get around. Trekie snagged the pass, and dribbled the
ball back, into his court. He was at this point directly behind the van. X-member decided to take one side of the van, and
Trekie got a free run down the other. DM came off his check here, so that Trekie wouldn't get a free shot. Trekie decided
to make him pay, and passed the ball to the DM's sister. She took a shot, which just missed, however Trekie made use of his
height again, and recieved the rebound to score. 2-0. The DM's sister took possesion with DM covering her, and X-member on
Trekie. As was prreviously stated, there was little or no room with which to manuver, and so the DM's sister had little or
no chance of getting past DM. "Pass high!" shouted Trekie. She did as advised, and X-member was caught off gaurd, and so Trekie
received the ball again. Trekie took a shot, which X-member managed to redirect slightly, and so it missed. Trekie out ran
his opponents, and recovered the rebound. He saw the players like so. X-member running at him. The DM running towards his
sister, who stood at the foul line. Trekie took a chance, and passed. That was a mistake. The DM arrived in time to intercept
the ball. He quickly ran it back. "You get X-member." Trekie called sprinting in at DM. DM was once again caught in the tight
area beside the van. Trekie covered him well enough that he had to stop dribbling to retain the ball. He pivoted skillfully,
and got a pass off to X-member. X-member recieved the pass over the head of the DM's sister, and took a shot, he was
at this point fouled. But this early in the game, they weren't counting fouls. Either way, the shot went in.
2-2 enemies in possesion.
The DM started off with the ball, his sister covering him in the tight area. Thinking quickly he ran around the
van, and came from the other side. Trekie however was standing directly in his way. DM spun, only to be faced
by his sister. He then saw that X-Member was open, standing ready for a perfect shot. DM passed over Trekie's
head, But Trekie ran up to where X-member was, intercepted the shot and ran, quickly taking the ball back. The DM moved
to cover Trekie in the small part beside the van. Trekie was forced to pick up the ball in order to avoid it being stolen.
He pivoted to the DM's left and his right, but couldn't find an opening in such small quarters. Then he saw it.
He spun towards DM's left, faking him out, and continueing to the right, he then ducked under the DM's grappleing arms, and
bounced passed the ball to the DM's sister. X-member saw what had happened and moved to steal the ball from her.
Trekie ran along side the DM, but outran him to the key, recieved a beautiful pass which had come from around X-member, and
took a jump shot from up close which he sunk for Two.
The DM's sister started out with the ball, the opposeing side elected to mix things up, and X-member instead came in
as her check. Useing an old trick, she attempted to cirle around the van, but it was varied up this time, because Trekie beat
the DM to the other side of the van. There was a handoff. And X-member tried to take Trekie, but he avoided him. The DM thought
quickly and moved to intercept and steal the ball. But wait, what ball? That's right, as DM moved to intercept, Trekie passed
the ball clear over DM and the van, The DM's sister made a great catch and took it to the net for a quick two.
Author's note: to be honest, I'm really only doing this to rub it in DM and X-member's faces, and since I really don't
care about what actually happened, we'll skip ahead to the big finish. -Trekie
"OWNED!!!" Trekie shouted. the game had just ended, with his team one point in the lead. And in celebration Trekie started
a victory lap singing 'we are the champions.' The DM's sister was heard to say "You're such a loser" but she followed none
the less. And so Trekie vanquished the opposeing team, and was pronounced better than them. And worse at spelleing-SWNerd
